AF Purifying Resin is a specialist ion exchange resin for freshwater aquariums, particularly useful in heavily stocked tanks where elevated nitrate levels can be difficult to manage.

The resin selectively absorbs nitrates and other dissolved nitrogen compounds from aquarium water without removing the essential minerals needed by aquatic life. By helping reduce unwanted compounds, it can also improve water clarity and support efforts to manage unwanted algae growth.

AF Purifying Resin is placed in the filter where water can flow continuously through the resin, allowing it to work as part of your aquarium's filtration system.

How to use AF Purifying Resin

Place 125mL of resin in a fine-mesh filter bag and position it in your filter basket where there is a constant flow of water.

One 125mL quantity is suitable for approximately 400L of aquarium water.

As the resin becomes exhausted, it will develop a dark brown discolouration. At this point, the resin should be replaced or regenerated according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Regenerating the resin

AF Purifying Resin can be regenerated using chlorine-containing bleach.

• Use a 50% bleach solution

• Soak the resin for approximately 6 hours

• Rinse the resin thoroughly

• Leave it in clean water for approximately 24 hours

Make sure all traces of bleach are completely removed before returning the resin to an aquarium.
