Spiderwood is suitable for usage in aquariums, terrariums or reptile enclosures, each one is unique with varying features and sizes. The wood has lots of extensions giving it a tree like appearance. Spiderwood is a popular choice when aquascaping aquariums due to the amount of plants that can be attached to the branches.
We recommend pre-soaking Spiderwood in a separate tub of water and changing the water daily. This can be done for up to two weeks and will help remove excess tannins and non-toxic organic substance. There is a potential for a white film to develop which is not harmful and will be eaten by some fish and snails. Use a clean brush to remove any extra debris and consider boiling the wood for one hour to sterilize before adding to your aquarium. Some types of plecos will eat the Spiderwood because it is soft compared to other driftwood types.
